The 2024 North Queensland Cowboys Mens Defence Jersey pays homage to the 110th anniversary of the reformation of the Australian Army’s 3rd Brigade, reformed in 1914 for service during World War I, taking the first steps ashore in the battle at Gallipoli.
Featuring a distinct earthy tone, the jersey depicts Australian Army soldiers from 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment during Exercise Brolga Run 23, conducting an assault on the enemy main defensive position. With an artistic treatment across the imagery, the jersey is designed to represent the contribution of each and every soldier.
Sitting proudly on the jersey’s neckline is the 3rd Brigade emblem, signifying the strong ties between the Australian Army’s 3rd Brigade and the North Queensland community, with the Brigade based at Townsville’s Lavarack Barracks, comprising more than 4,000 personnel.
‘First Ashore’ is adorned on the back of the jersey, taken from the 3rd Brigade’s emblem, commemorating the significant role of the 3rd Brigade in the battle at Gallipoli. It was 4.18am on Sunday, April 25, 1915 when Army's 3rd Brigade landed on the shore of what is now named Anzac Cove in Gallipoli.
